Permitting

The Baton Rouge Film Commission staff acts as a liaison for all film and video projects working within the City of Baton Rouge and East Baton Rouge parish.  Our general, fee free permit is now required in order to film on public property, as well as to access all additional permissions through other city agencies and departments.

Please contact our staff to begin planning your work within the city-parish as early as possible.  Our staff is available to assist you with this process.  Certain requests and activities such as pyrotechnic effects, street closures and parking requests will require securing specific permissions through additional agencies.

Prior to principal photography, the Baton Rouge Film Commission office requires that the production's location manager attend a city pre-production planning meeting.  Depending on the potential needs of the production, we will invite filming liaisons from BRPD, EBR Sheriff's office, BR Fire Prevention Bureau and the Traffic Engineering department to join this discussion.  The purpose of this meeting is to troubleshoot any logistical issues before production begins, as well as to discuss potential street closures, intermittent traffic control, fire prevention procedures and neighborhood notification policies.  Our intent is to enable your production to run as smoothly and effectively as possible.

Film Permit Application Requirements:

The City of Baton Rouge/Parish of East Baton Rouge Film Permit is issued by the Mayor's office and is a prerequisite for all filming on public property.  The city-parish also requires that productions fill out a Hold Harmless Agreement.  A copy of the permit application is also attached below.  Please complete it and send to the Baton Rouge Film Commission.  We will submit the permitting and required insurance documents with the appropriate Baton Rouge City Offices.  Once executed, your production will receive signed copies.

Projects filming in the City of Baton Rouge and East Baton Rouge Parish will be required to submit a Certificate of Insurance.  Instructions are provided below:
